"You Were Told To Practice Resilience-Now What?"
Centering the “Why” of Resilience, Before Engaging in the “How”
DESCRIPTION:
This session will help participants sharpen their lens regarding trauma informed care and resilience-based approaches. “Resilience” goes beyond strengths finding. Our session will outline 5 Concepts that frame our deep understanding of people and situations before we aim to develop strategies to support. When we have frameworks that orient us to the ROOT of what’s going on we will stop reacting to symptoms and rather respond to the implicit emotional dysregulation that causes such symptomology. Our aim will be to examine the stories we tell and reframe the stories we hear regarding young people on their healing journey.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Participants will understand 5 Concepts that offer an lens through which trauma responsive understanding can be viewed
2. Participants will identify ways to reflect on their role as storytellers and listeners with people they support.
3. Participants will be supported in shifting their focus towards relational regulation vs. behavior management. .
